WADING SOCKS
Wet wading socks are specifically designed for anglers who prefer the freedom of wet wading, often during warmer months when full waders aren't necessary. These socks, typically made from neoprene or similar materials, provide a layer of insulation and protection against the cool water and abrasive surfaces, such as rocks and gravel. Wet wading socks are thicker than regular socks, offering cushioning and preventing debris from entering your footwear. They help keep your feet warm even when fully submerged, making them an essential piece of gear for those who enjoy the direct connection to the water while maintaining comfort and protection during their fly fishing adventures.
WADING BOOT STUDS
Adding metal studs to the bottom of your wading boots can significantly enhance your grip when navigating fast, slippery river bottoms. These studs can be installed on either rubber-soled or felt-soled boots and are available pre-installed on some models. They are particularly beneficial for anglers who have struggled with slipping and losing their footing while wading. The extra traction provided by studs helps maintain contact with bare rock, making each step more secure and reducing the risk of falls.
However, while studs offer great advantages in terms of safety and stability, they also come with some drawbacks. Studded boots can damage boat surfaces, particularly inflatable rafts and drift boats, and can cause significant harm to finished flooring. Therefore, if you spend a lot of time fishing from a boat, it might be wise to avoid using studded boots or keep a spare pair of non-studded boots on hand for boat use. Despite these limitations, the added security and confidence provided by studs can make a substantial difference in challenging wading conditions.
WADING STAFF
A wading staff is an essential tool for fly fishers, providing stability and safety when navigating through fast-moving rivers, slippery rocks, and uneven streambeds. It acts as a third leg, offering additional balance and support, especially in challenging water conditions or when crossing deep sections of a river. A good wading staff is lightweight, durable, and easy to deploy, often collapsing into a compact size for convenient storage when not in use. By enhancing stability and confidence, a wading staff allows anglers to focus more on their casting and presentation, improving both their safety and overall fly fishing experience.
WADER REPAIR
We understand that even the most durable waders can develop leaks or tears over time, but that doesn't mean it's the end of their life. Wader repair is a simple and effective way to extend the life of your gear, saving you money and keeping you on the water longer. We stock Gear Aid Aquaseal, a trusted and reliable product for repairing waders. Aquaseal is a flexible, waterproof adhesive that can easily seal small holes, tears, and seam leaks, restoring your waders to their full functionality. Whether you're dealing with a minor puncture or a larger rip, Gear Aid Aquaseal ensures your waders remain watertight and durable, so you can continue your fly fishing adventures without interruption.
