Gransfors Bruk Natural Whetstone
The Gransfors Bruk Natural Whetstone comprises two unique natural materials chosen to best supply the needs of coarse and fine grinding.
The Gransfors Bruk Natural Whetstone is user-friendly and easy to hold with a firm grip making it effortless to sharpen an edge by following the existing bevel and grind angle.
The coarse side is made from Orsa sandstone with a grain of 120-200 grit. This sandstone has been used as a sharpening stone since the 1500s, and its qualities of a coarse, slightly porous surface work well to grind and edge back to its original geometry and begin sharpening before final honing.
The fine side is made from a fine-grained slate from Los. This is a unique material only found here and has been used as a whetstone since the late 1800s. Featuring a smooth and hard surface, the Los stone has a grain size of between 500-1000 grit. The fine-grained, smooth surface has the qualities to achieve an extremely sharp edge with a good bite.
